Supported Payment Gateways
This article covers the payment gateways and currencies supported by the software.
After connecting a payment gateway, any money received will be deposited directly into the payment gateway account,. Members can be charged in the country's home currency (check the list of "Supported Currencies & Countries" below to see if the website country is included on the list of countries serviced by the chosen payment gateway, and the payment gateway supports the desired currency).
Below is a list of all of the currently supported payment gateways with links to more information about the countries and currencies supported by each:
PayPal Payflow / PayPal Payments Pro
Stripe.com
This is our Recommended Payment Gateway.
- Type of Gateway: On-site (members do not leave the site to pay)

Why do we recommend Stripe?
- Cost: Stripe charges no monthly fee, and an industry-standard per-transaction, making it one of the most economical payment gateway options available. Stripe pricing details
- Latest Technology: Stripe was founded in 2012, so it is a relatively new payment gateway compared to some of the other options on the market. However, because of its recency, it has been built from the ground-up with the latest technologies and security protocols and has been able to avoid many of the mistakes that have plagued more antiquated options such as PayPal, eWay, and Authorize.net.
- Market Reach / Support: As of this writing, it currently supports transactions in 100+ currencies, is available for businesses in 25+ countries, and is constantly expanding that reach, making it one of the most widely-available payment gateways on the market.
- Security: Stripe uses a "tokenization" system to process payments, which offers the best combination of user experience and security available today. This means that as soon as a member completes a transaction through the website, Stripe securely stores the member's credit card information in their own PCI-compliant network, and it is not stored locally on the website at all. Instead, only a "token" (an encrypted string of characters which represents that member's credit card information) is stored locally on the website. In the unlikely event that someone was able to gain access to this information on the site, all they would find would be tokens that cannot be used to access the member's actual credit card data. This means, the owner of the site never have to worry about someone stealing the credit card information of the members on the website.
- Website Owner Experience: Setting up a new Stripe account is extremely easy, and can be completed in a few short minutes. Once the account is set up and connected to the Brilliant Directories website, it works extremely well. Of the thousands of Brilliant Directories websites that have a payment gateway connected, users have rarely reported issues when setting up Stripe, even if they have had issues trying to set up a different payment gateway in the past.
- Website Member Experience: Once Stripe is connected as the website payment gateway, members of the site never know that Stripe is being used to process payments. Members never have to leave the website to pay, and the website's name shows up on their credit card statement. When Stripe attempts to process payments from the members, it has an extremely high rate of successful transactions, being able to capture payment successfully.
In Summary: Compared to the other payment gateway options, it is the easiest to set up and maintain an account, there are no monthly fees, it is far more advanced in terms of technology and security, it has all of the features needed for a payment gateway, and most importantly - it just works.
Even if already have a history with another payment gateway, we would highly recommend using Stripe with the Brilliant Directories website.

Pro Tip - Perceived Value With an SSL Certificate
All payment pages collect sensitive member and credit card information, so all transactions on these pages are secured using an SSL Certificate.
By default, all sites will use our generic secured payment domain, securemypayment.com. However, potential members of the site are much more likely to complete a transaction on a secured page on the own domain rather than a generic domain like securemypayment.com.
To process all payments using secured pages using the own domain (plus secure all other pages of the site as well), install an SSL Certificate on the domain. We have an SSL Installation Service available to have our internal security team install, test, and maintain the SSL Certificate.
If need to acquire an SSL Certificate please submit a request to [email protected].
