Recover Password Reset Page: Install New Updates

The Install New Updates module on the admin dashboard lists one-time platform installers that have pending steps for your specific website. Click the green Check For Updates button to refresh the list — an installer only appears when your site actually has something left to install, and it disappears from the list once its steps are complete.

What Recover Password Reset Page Does

This installer restores the page your members use to reset their password when that page's record is missing from your website's database. It creates one new web page and changes nothing else.

Specifically, it inserts a page named Password Retrieval Page (page type password_retrieval_page) into your site's page list (the list_seo table). The page's content renders the Bootstrap Theme - Member Login Page widget, the platform's standard member login template, and the page is created in active status so it works right away.

Why It Appears

Every Brilliant Directories website normally has a password reset page. This installer appears only when the platform's check finds no page of type password_retrieval_page in your database, which usually means the page was deleted at some point, EG during a cleanup of unused pages. It is not an age or version issue; it is a recovery tool for a missing page.

Why It Matters

The password reset page is where members land to set a new password when they cannot log in. If the page record is missing, that part of the login flow has no page to display, and members trying to recover their password have no way to complete the process. Restoring the page makes the standard password recovery flow work again. If your site already has the page, the installer does not appear and there is nothing to do.

How to Run It

  1. From the admin dashboard, find the Install New Updates module and click Check For Updates.
  2. If your site has pending steps, Recover Password Reset Page appears in the list. Click Install.
  3. After it completes, click Check For Updates again — the entry disappears once all steps are done.

If Recover Password Reset Page does not appear in the list, your website is already up to date — the module only shows installers with pending steps, so there is nothing to do.

After Running

A page named Password Retrieval Page exists again in your admin's web page list. To verify, use the forgot password link on your site's login page (or request a password reset for a test account) and confirm the reset page loads. The installer only adds this one page; it does not modify or overwrite any existing page, and it is only offered while the page is missing.
