Integrating Third-Party Cookie Consent
CookiePal offers an affordable third-party cookie consent solution that can be embedded on a Brilliant Directories website. The steps below outline how to integrate CookiePal to meet cookie compliance requirements.
Step 1: Create a CookiePal Account
- Navigate to https://cookiepal.io/pricing.
- Select the preferred pricing plan (a free option is available).
Complete the sign-up process, including the website domain.
Step 2: Configure the Cookie Banner
Choose between the Fast or Advanced setup. In this example we will choose the Fast Setup:
CookiePal offers an already preconfigured the banner. Customise the layout, colors, position, and content text to align with branding and legal requirements using the side bar on the left.
Once the colors, layout and alignment have been selected, click "Next" to proceed.
Step 3: Copy the Installation Script
Once the configuration is complete, choose the preferred option for installation: COPY & PASTE THE CODE
- Copy the code to integrate the banner into the website.
Click on Finish to go to the CookiePal dashboard.
Step 4: Insert the Script into the Website
Log into the Brilliant Directories Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to Toolbox > Widget Manager.
- Search for the widget titled Bootstrap Theme - Cookie Consent Code.
Paste the CookiePal script into the HTML editor.
Click Save Changes.
Load the website to see the cookie consent:
Step 5: Check the Cookies
Return to the CookiePal dashboard.
- Navigate to Cookie Manager.
Check the cookies that have been gathered: Necessary, Analytics, Performance, etc.
CookiePal auto-classifies most cookies; remaining cookies can be classified manually.
Step 6: Troubleshooting and Testing
If the cookie banner does not display as expected:
Clear the browser cache and cookies.
Open the website in a private/incognito browser window.
Verify that the script is correctly placed in the widget and saved.
