Trying to add a forum to my website

I would like to add a community form to my website. Just like Yelp

http://www.yelp.com/talk/portland

I know someone has inquired about this before via this link

http://community.brilliantdirectories.com/thread/add-a-forum-to-my-website/

Does anyone know what site might be best for the free version? I quickly scanned the sites below and it doesn't seem that easy to get the code needed to pass onto my coach. Any insight? Thanks!

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your question. We do not have a Forum widget yet.

However if you do not want to have a third party forum you can create a new Feature and use it as a "Forum".

Please follow these steps:

1. Go to the admin and click on  Members >> Membership Features

2. Find the "Articles" feature and click on "Copy"

3. Then click on "Membership Features" again (That will refresh the page) and you'll have the copied feature at the top, please click on "Edit".

4. Change theses fields:

* Feature Name: Type new name here. For example: Forum

* Type of Data: Blog post (Version 2 of Articles)

* URL Permalink: Ex: new_forum or forum

Scroll down and find the title: "Member Profile Page Settings" (Use this if you want to have the forum tab in the members profile).

*Tab name: Ex: Forum

Scrolling down you'll see the title: "Search Results Settings"

*Default H1: Ex: Forum

*Tab Name: Ex: Forum

Then click on "Save Changes".

7. If you go want to see the new forum page, please go to this url: yoursite/forum same as the (URL Permalink: Ex: forum) you used in the new feature options.

8. Then you need to go to Disqus and Sign Up.

There you'll have access to a "Universal Code" please copy it.

9. Then go to the Admin and navigate to Members >> Membership Features >> Edit the new feature (Forum).

Scroll down and at the bottom you'll find the option: "Comments Code".

10 Please paste the code in the Comments code box and click on "Save Changes".

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks! :)

Hi Donna,

Thank you for your question. In our Software we do not have a Forum Widget. However you can use  a Third Party Forum.

You can choose a Free one or a paid one. When you have selected your option please send an email to support@brilliantdirectories.com with a detailed information about the platform you will use. Then we will create a sub-domain for you and we will reduce your credits because our Development Team needs to go ahead and implement the new forum to your site. If you don't have credits we will let you know and you need to send your request to the Marketplace

**NOTE: Just to let you know the sub-domain is completely separate from your Brilliant Directories platform.

Hope this information helps and let us know if you have further questions about this.

Hi Luana,

I would also like to create a forum, and as this post is over 2months ago, I'm interested to know if B.D has or will be integrating a forum widget?

If not, are we able to integrate our own forum onto our site?

Thanks

Paul
